Colour... woot!

I decided to do a bit of colour on this sketch of Ela... yes I know it looks nothing like her. Its a cartoon version. But yeah it probably should have been better. Ela has a sort of face where its really hard to put her distinguishing features into a cartoon. However, I think it didn't turn out too well. I just really hope she has blue eyes (I couldn't tell from the photo) or I'm gonna kill Tim! Well cya I'm off to sleep.

Maria concept

Maria is Luca and Carlo's cousin who is full blooded Italian. I liked the way the body shape turned out and the hair... although tedious turned out well I think. I think the tank top is a win as is the oversized necklace although I'm not too sure about the skirt. I'll figure it out one day. So I think it was a pretty good effort for a female... something I'm renowned for being bad at drawing.

Carlo again

This was a straight-on pic I did of Carlo in RE today. I'm satisfied I can draw him from most angles at this point so I can perhaps move on to another character, this time female. However, expect another (hopefully better) straight on of Luca. Cheers.

Proud of the hands

I was really quite proud of the hands in this pic. It was a request by my friend Andrew. I think it helps when the person pics out their own photo. Yeah so you got two in one night and I don't have much else to say... other than the usual... email me with the photo if you want a sketch of you done. G'night.

Carlo concept

This is a concept sketch for another character in A Fish Out of Water (working title). This will be the other main character and is Luca's brother. He is a year older and a bit of a playa with the ladies. In this pic you can pretty much guess what he's looking at. I'm quite pleased with how the hand turned out as I didn't base it off a photo and its in a fairly complex position. What do you think? As an aside... I nearly had to switch service providers as blogger stopped me posting last night. I was very glad the problem fixed itself however.

I like this one...

A quick sketch I did of Katie80... Although the clothing she was wearing was crappy as was the hair i was actually quite pleased with the result. It was a request by her from a long, long time ago but I finally got around to it. Enjoy.

Oh the irony!

Ok so here we have another sketch of Luca. This time of him sketching someone. I tried some different angles and incorporated the much dreaded lags into the picture. Again it is recommended to look at it in a larger size by clickng on it. Yeah the cleanup is a bit dodgy but these are only sketches aren't they?

Straight-on sucks...

This was a quick attempt of mine to draw Luca again from a straight-on view. I once again express my distaste for this horrible viewpoint... It is nigh on impossible to convert a character from 3/4 view to straight-on as I found here. However, I don't think it came out too bad.

First Few requests...

As word of Marksketch spreads to more people I have been getting a few requests for me to draw people. This latest sketch is the result of a request I got today. Get a request in soon before I get jaded with drawing. I got bit slack with the cleaning up on this pic but you get the idea. All this drawing I've been doing has really come in handy as in art today we were doing figure drawing and i was one of the only people to get a semi finished picture in the time limit.

Luca Concept

Ok it is seriously recommended that you click on the picture for a larger look. So dodgy rushed shading aside I am rather proud of this guy: A potential character for my upcoming webcomic Fish out of Water (a working title). So basically he's supposed to be a bit shy but sorta cool. Also I have been trying to make him look like he could be in highschool and as such gave him softer features and a more squat head. So what do you think of the hair in particular? Its one of the things I've been hoping for feedback on because I've been struggling with it a bit.

This is a pic I did of tim to experiment with drawing guys I know in my new style. I dont think I nailed the shape of his head very well although the hair isn't that bad. Overall a pretty bad end result but I'll get there some day. What are your thoughts?
A simple scene I did for a friend showing a ninja about to attack a monk. It was a bit of a rushjob but enjoyable nonetheless. And no those aren't speedlines they are floorboards.

I did these two using exercises from a book I bought called the Art of Drawing Manga. The female is a direct copy but the guy is modifying the author's design. I wouldn't call them manga so much as inspired by manga. These were done in pencil and then darkened on photoshop.
This drawing I did for my friend Rory as a birthday present. I cleaned it up a little on the computer and i meant to colour it but never got around to it. I think it looks better this way.
A sketch of my good friend Erin which I inked and then cleaned up on Photoshop. I'm still working on drawing females and using real people really helps with proportions though.
This is a sketch I did of my friend Louise in which I experimented with cross-hatching and smudging on Photoshop. What do you think?

Alas, yet another blog!

Hello and welcome,
this site is dedicated to me posting artworks and getting feedback... it may also loosely mention various webcomics. So any and all feedback would be appreciated and there should be a new picture about once a week. Cheers, Mark
